Rhonda Snord's Irregulars, 3037 Retrofit

This Rhonda Snord's Irregulars unit was painted in June 2018. I used Rhonda's Irregulars and Cranston Snord's Irregulars sourcebooks to come up with the theme for this unit.

Although Snord's Irregulars does not have an official paint scheme, I wanted to give the unit a uniform look. Cranston Snord was part of Wolf's Dragoons Epsilon Regiment, which paints their 'Mechs solid tan. This is why I decided to paint them like this.

Aside from this, I dug into the sourcebooks to try to capture the personality of each character. This was my thought process:

• Colonel Rhonda Snord: I based her Highlander on the cover of Cranston Snord's Irregulars, where I got the rising sun bandana and the "Elvis is King" on the chest. Additionally, the Highlander's head is pink with six speakers as a nod to the BattleTech Trading Card Game. Lastly, the Gauss rifle has "heavy metal" written under it.


• Dennis Maltesta: I made a red diamond on the chest of his Excalibur.


• David Rowsch: "RIP Janos" on the Guillotine, and a Free Worlds League logo crossed out.


• Sharonous Wayne: "Atomic Doll" painted over the Spartan's cockpit.


• Lieutenant Marcos Shake: His Bombardier has an ode to his memory loss and to his old 'Mech, "The Question Mark."


• Tempest Storm: Her Spartan has the "True Grit" logo on a shoulder, as I assumed she would have grown up watching John Wayne movies with her father, Solomon Storm. The Spartan also features bloody hands and feet to represent her aggressiveness.


• Anthony Pryor: His Lancelot torso is painted in the colors of the Star League Defense Force to show his passion for the Star League. It also features the words "Iron Coffin," which I took from Rhonda Snord's Shadow Hawk because I did not want such a cool name to not be present.


• Charlotte Deblois: Her Thug features surface damage to make her enemies think she is vulnerable.


• Lieutenant Cyndos Thomlinson: Her Mercury has a Jack of Spades logo to represent her graduation from the Blackjack School of Conflict.


• Adrian MacLeod: Her Hussar features a MacLeod tartan pattern and a Northwind Highlanders tartan pattern.


• Walker Roche: His Champion is pristine.


• Arnold Ling: His Kintaro features a railroad symbol. I did not dare try to paint the front of a 19th-century locomotive on the torso.


• Captain Samuel "Shorty" Sneede: I made his Crockett scuffed up, an ode to his old FrankenMech. It features the names of some of the cool operations like "Junk Yard Dog." I picture Mr. Sneede as someone who would spend his days in junkyards and pull 'n pays fixing up cars (or BattleMechs, as is the case).


• Daniel Trump: I did not find much information on him, so his Champion is bland.


• Marleen Danules: I also did not find much information on her, so her Crab does not feature anything.


• Carter Malvinson: I am unsure if he was related to John Malvinson, who was a huge sports fan. In the event that he was, I added a logo of the Baltimore Colts to the Black Knight's leg. Or should it be the Indianapolis Colts? Battletech started in 1984, and by that time the Colts were in Indiana...


• Captain Deb H'Chu: I placed "On the Hunt" on her Exterminator's arm, as she is always hunting for Battlemaster BattleMechs.


• Lieutenant Terry Malvinson: He used to have a Phoenix Hawk decorated with sports memorabilia. In this case, I chose to make his Lancelot have a logo of the Cincinnati Reds.


• Victoria Rose: There is not much information about her or her Excalibur.


• Richard "Rickbo" Burkeman: There is not much information about him or his Champion.


• Lieutenant Bright Thomlinson: He is obsessed with old art. As such, I made his Crockett as a nod to his old Rifleman known as the Picasso.


• Solomon Storm: Obsessed with old movies and with John Wayne, "The Duke," his Sentinel features an attempt to replicate the logo of the movie "Stagecoach."


• Dalid "Darkside" Burns: Not much is said of Dalid nor his Enforcer.


• Linda Thomlinson: There is not a lot of information about her or her Flashman, but I adorned it with a couple of C-Bills on the leg.


• Blade Windall: His Highlander features the arm of a Free Worlds League Militia Centurion, which he uses to batter his opponents.

Status of this unit: As of 2023, this unit was sold to a close friend in the Indianapolis area. He uses it from time to time.
